This drawing is an illustration from the book written and illustrated by Pierre Le-Tan titled Quelques collectionneurs [Some Collectors], published by Flammarion in 2013 and accompanied by an exhibition at the Nicolas S♏chwed gallery in Paris.

This book, which is one of the few books written by Le-Tan, is dedicated to Toboré, the ‘patient companion of a collector’. Each chapter is devot𒊎ed to a collector — real, imaginary, or with a slightly modified name — whom the author has supposedly met and whose collection he describes. Le-Tan devotes a chapter to himself and includes illustrations of some objects from his own collection.

Pages 48-53 describe the meeting between the narrator and Jimmy Stockwell at the Tanger Inn in Tangier. He had worked for one of the major English auction houses and he collected Staffordshire pottery and pieces by other ceramics factories in a💛 Tangier apartment that had been remodelled to look like an English country house.
