The Speedmaster has become synonymous with space travel, however the first advertisements and coralation for the watch was related to automobile racing. The external tachometer bezel allowed for easy reading of speed, and this form of legibility was applied to other bezel variations for the watch. The present lot bears a rare Pulsations bezel, used to measure heart rate. This bezel was an option for Speedmasters from the beginning of the 1960𝓰s.
