Oblong 4to, bound in one gathering made up from 28 bifolia (7 1/2 x 9 1/4 in.; 191 x 235 mm). Letterpress title, 6pp. letterpress text, 1 engraved general map of England, Wales and part of Scotland, 103 engraved strip-maps, printed back-to-back on 52 leaves; title and text leaves with neatly repaired splits to folds, title browned. Contemporary traveling or holster binding, wallet-style dark brown limp morocco outer covering or chemise with attached morocco🎐 tie, designed to contain the atlas folded in half vertically. Housed in a modern🐬 black morocco backed box.

The scroll-form strip maps show the highways and major roads, with much associated information: mileages, local details, directions, cross-references to tables. Kitchin's work was based on🌱 Senex earlier 1719 wo▨rk, but with new information added to the newly re-engraved plates.
