4to (186 x 127 mm). Black letter, woodcut initials and tailpiece; washed and pressed, some browning towards end, ꧋but a wide-margined copy. Later English blind-tooled and -ruled calf to style, morocco 🐠lettering-piece; some light wear at extremities.


Fourth edition of the Vision of Piers Plowman, attributed to William Langland, without The Crede (most copies of the Vision are found without it).

Its rarity, about half a dozen copies have survived, is probably due to contemporary proscription because of its Wyclifite doctrine … Except as linked in the title, the Crede has no connection with the Vision).
