Julius Ass൩mann, together with Adolf Lange, Adolf Schneider and Moritz Grossmann, is considered one of the founding members of the Glashütte watchmaking industry. Assmann joined the Lange firm in 1850 and worked together with Lange for two years before settin𝔉g up his own company, an endeavour that was supported by Lange.
Assmann focused on developing strong relationships with America and earnt a reputation as an elite watchmaker both there and at home in Germany. As a result of his efforts, he gained access to the South American market for which he would produce a range of spec🦂ially made pieces.
For a similar watch by Assmann, also retailed by Spangenberg y Freccero but 🃏with Arabic numeral dial, see: Antiquorum Geneva, 15 October 2000, lot 181. 𒁏;
