This drawing is connected to a watercolour of the same title that Cotman is thought to have exhibited at the 1809 exhibition of the 𒐪Norwich Society of Artists.

Cotman shows, baskets, bundles of cloth, a bucket and a sleeping dog. Another drawing depicting this same still-life, which Cotman has dated 1809, also includes colour notes. Both that pencil drawing and the watercolour are held at the Norwich Castle Museum.¹
