the hinged cover depicting Battle of Kunersdorf, each side enamelled with weapons, trophies and instruments of war, the interior of the lid enamelled with a portrait of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in a roundel surrounded by weapons and bearing a Cyrillic inscription, with gilt metal mounts around the rim, apparently unmarked
length 8cm; 3 in.
A nearly identical snuffbox is held in the collection of the State Historical Museum in Moscow. A further example was acquired 𓆏by Henry Walters in Paris in 1927 and now forms part of the collection of the Walters Art Muꦦseum in Baltimore (n. 44.377).
