Schürmann, U., Teppiche aus dem Orient, Wiesbaden, 1976, Cover image and illustrated on p. 91
Whilst the great majority of 'Lotto' rugs were produced with a yellow lattice upon a red ground, a small number in other colourways exist, for example the rug sold at Christie's London 14 February 2001 from Davide Halevim, with a light blue green lattice on a red field, and the fragment illustrated in Hali, Issue 105, July-August 1999, p. 156, The Carpet Studio, Florence, with a dark green lattice on red field. The weaver of this delightful small rug from the Bergama region has reversed this colour arrangement for their interpretation of the 'Lotto' design with a cogwheel and flower rosette border. Ulrich Schürmann obviously found it very appealing, using it on the cover of his Teppiche aus dem Orient.
