A Roman Marble Portrait Statue of a Girl
Eastern Mediterranean, circa 3rd Century A.D.
standing with the weight on her left leg, and wearing a chiton and himation, the left arm lowered, the right arm bent at the elbow and grasping the h🌳em of the himation bunched up across the breasts, her head turned sharply to her left, her face with parted lips, her hair arranged in a melon coiffure.
Height 85 cm.

Similar figures can be found on many Roman sarcophagi from Asia Minor; see V. Strocka, Dokimenische Saülensarkophage, 2017, pls. 57.2, 65.2, 69.1, 72.1, 74.1, 84.2, and 90.2. The present figure may well have have been produced by a sarcophagus workshop.
