Description
Freddie Mercury’s personalised Q🌠ueen 'One Vision' boiler suit
A charcoal grey cotton boiler suit with stitched waistband, the back printed in white with lettering ‘QUEEN – ONE VISION’ and a printed reproduction of Freddie’s signature within an outline image of a clapperboard, the front with curved collar, zip-fastening to long central opening, two chest and leg pockets, decorated with straps to shoulders, waist and cuffs, labelled ‘WIPO’ to left front above🌠 waist, additional label inside ‘WIPO The Overall Specialists’ with purple paper cleaners’ tag attached by staple, 1985
It seems that each band member would have been given their own personalised 'One Vision' boiler suit. Brian May is seen wearing his version of the suit in the video itself in the last quarter of the film in scenes of all four of the band in boisterous mood singing and rec💦ording the song’s chorus around a single mic in Musicland Studios in Munich in September, 1985. Brian at some points pogo-ing to the music and in so doing giving the viewer a clear look at his suit.
'One Vision' was the first of Queen’s videos to be directed and produced by Austrian directors Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher, collectively known as DoRo. Four separate garments worn by Freddie in the video are included in the auction. See lot 238 for an abstract design short-sleeve shirt and lot 237, a yellow ‘DALLAS’ T-shirt. See also lot 176 for a black and white stripe vest and CQ5MM for an orange ‘Rapax’ vest.
