Many consider 15 years to be the perfect age for Van Winkle whiskeys: old enough to develop rich barrel-influenced notes of leather and vanilla but not so old that those in🤪fluences take over. Until 2004, the 15-year-old was bottled under the Old Rip Van Winkle brand, in a squat, or barrel, bottle – after that it was sold under the Pappy Van Winkle line, in a taller, cognac-style bottle, making this bottle an alluring historical artifact.
