These hand-drawn creations, marked by deliberate spontaneity, embody the designer’s boundless imagination. Rendered with colored markers, watercolors, makeup powders, and even correction fluid, they exemplify his innovative and unconventional approach to graphic expression. Through these works, Lagerfeld emerges as an absolute aesthete, channeling his keen sense of style into the intimate realm of his private world.

Fashion Sketches and Caricatures

Karl has patiently composed his style according to strict, immutable rules. The word “always” could punctuate the Kaiser's morning routine. Always a Dior jacket, always a pair of mittens...always. He composed his scales tirelessly: C, the Dior jacket; D, the sunglasses; E, the mittens; F, the Massaro boots... and so on. The same style notes, revised and varied every day, came back again and again. The morning music of Karl's dressing room followed his faithful love for objects and houses such as Chrome Hearts or Hilditch &amp; Key. Style grammar means obsession, accumulation, variety, quantity. Hundreds of mittens, thousands of shirts... In order to bring variations to the theme, you have to let your imagination run wild!

Karl’s Looks

This conceptual project is based on the idea of the obsolescence of certain types of furniture, redefining their usefulness, the body's relationship with furniture and their place in our living spaces. "Today’s fashion has influenced the spirit, form and use of this furniture," explains Hedi Slimane. This furniture not only reinvents classifications and uses; it also overturns our beliefs and the hasty link we may make between formal rigor and industrial production. Although this collection may appear to be the product of mass production, it has been meticulously crafted by the finest artisans, with particular attention to detail. All seven F System models are hand-made, in a limited edition of just 10. Minimalism, new relationship with furniture, overturning of established codes: Hedi Slimane's F System project is a continuation of the spirit that has inspired modern designers since the beginning of the twentieth century. "Throughout history, furniture has been a medium of collective identity. Conversations, Indiscretes, Confidents seats, populated the social salons of the 19th century, only to disappear in the last century. Beyond its function, F system formally evokes a dynamic, a convention and a social symbol that has fallen into disuse. Social etiquette is here reduced to its simplest expression, a posture and a form of archaic sociability". – Hedi Slimane
