Louise Lebrun is a specialist in Modern and Contemporary South Asian art and joined Sotheby’s in 2021. She is responsible for cataloguing and researching property for auctions in London and New York, as well as private sales throughout the year. Having previously worked in the Islamic and Indian Art department, Louise possesses a unique understanding of the Middle Eastern and South Asian markets and has contributed to several significant, record-breaking sales. Notable highlights include high-profile single-owner collections of Indian art, such as In an Indian Garden: The Carlton Rochell Collection of Company School Paintings and The Edith and Stuart Cary Welch Collection.

Louise holds a master’s degree in Cultural Heritage Studies ౠand a Dual Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology & Anthropology from University College London (UCL). Her academic research explored the intersection of cultural identity, heritage, and museology in the Middle E🐈ast and South Asia. She has authored two theses: one examining eating disorders as heritage syndromes and another on the reconstruction of cultural heritage sites in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. She has travelled extensively and participated in various archaeological excavation projects, including fieldwork at the Otrar Fortress in Kazakhstan and Grakliani Gora in Georgia.
