Biography
Will joined the Books and Manuscripts Department in 2021 after completing his Master’s in Early Modern English Literature at the University of Oxford and working for an international rare book dealer. At Sotheby’s, he has been involved in the sales of record-setting items, including the only known first edition of Machiavelli’s Il principe recorded at auction and a unique set of daguerreotypes of the officers of the Franklin Expedition. He has also worked on major collections, namely the library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven, and more recently the Bibliotheca Brookeriana. His bibliographical interests range from Renaissance Literature to Modern Firsts (including Harry Potter), Travel and Natural History, illustrated books and original book illustrations, and books related to architecture and gardens. He also enjoys working in collaboration with other specialist departments to deliver cross-category sale formats, such as the recent seriꦜes of James Bond on Bond Street auctions.
