An artist that needs no introduction, L.S. Lowry is one of the most popular and beloved artists of the past century, capturing the industrial scene and everyday lives of those that he saw during his ♚daily rounds as a rent collector in the city.

The sale features three masterworks by L.S. Lowry from a Private European Collection. Historian and author Michael Howard guides us through Lowry’s early life, and explains just what drove him to create some of the most celebr💞ated and recognisable images everyday British life.

Gallery Talk with Alan Powers, author of

The subject of a recent reappraisal, including several exciting museum exhibitions and publications, Eric Ravilious holds a position as one of the most interesting British artists of the past century, and arguably one of the best watercolourists. Author Alan Powers leads us through the artist’s inter-war years, including one of his most celebrated subjects Newhaven Harbour. Alan will also be discussing Ravilious’ close contemporary Edward Wadsworth, whose Convoy (1941) is also to be included in the sale.

Nevinson: The Great War and After
Gallery Talk with Jonathan Black, author of

Rounding off the afternoon we’re delighted to have Jonathan Black in the galleries to talk about Nevinson’s masterpiece A Dawn, 1914 – largely unseen for over 30 years, it is one of the last remaining oil paintings from the First World War period to remain in private ownership. The work was included in his seminal 1916 Leicester Galleries exhibition, alongside many of the greatest works by the artist to appear in public collections all around the world – including in the Tate; from the National Gallery of Canada and in the Imperial War Museum, London.
