Leading our prestigious Evening Auction this fall, Sotheby’s Hong Kong is honoured to present a distinguished selection of works by Modern and Contemporary Masters. Steering this spectacular collection is the monumental 1954 masterpiece by Mark Rothko, Untitled (Yellow and Blue). An iconic painting executed at the pinnacle of the artist's career along with extensive museum exhibition history, Untitled (Yellow and Blue) is the first painting by Mark Rothko offered in Asia. Alongside we are presenting Zao Wou-ki Hurricane period masterpiece of museum-quality titled 02.01.65. The present work exemplifies the classical tripartite structure of the period, only 15 monumental oil paintings of large canvas measuring 162 x 200 cm. were created between 1959-1965, making this work extremely rare to come by on the market. Additionally, a rare Hat painting by Yayoi Kusama that is fresh to auction. The auction takes place in Hong Kong on 11 November at 7PM HKT.
