Catalogue Note

According to Mary Landa, this watercolor depicts a swimming ledge near the Wyeth family home in Port Clyde, Maine.  Hupper Island is in the distance.  The watercolor was dedicated to Miss Field, a neighbor who spent her summers at 'Big Thunder' and swam in the ledge depicted in this work.
