Catalogue Note
The sitter was the daughter of Robert Scott, of Killearn, Stirling. She married Sir James Montgomery, 1st Bt., who served as Lord Advocate in Scotland in 1766. 𓃲; He also served as M.P. for Peebles in 1768 and served as Chief Baron of the Exchequer in Scotland between 1775-81.
