Condition

This painting is in very good condition overall. Under UV light, there are no apparent restorations. The faint undulating striations in the upper half of the composition (visible in the catalogue illustration) are the artist and part of the design of the work. There are faintly visible pale white tidelines in the bottom fifth (also in the catalogue illustration) which are also part of the application of the artist's pigment. In the lower right corner, there is some soiling and black scuffs (or possibly errant pigment) located 4 to 6" up from the bottom and 2-2 ¾ in. in from the right, and 12-12 ½ inches up from the right corner tip. The canvas support is not sized by the artist and is slightly wavy overall on the stretcher. The canvas is not framed.
