probably from  a rood screen, integrally carved with socle with scrolling acanthus, the Child with traces of the Lamb of God in His left hand

Overall the condition of the group is good. There are a number of splits throughout ,as visible in the catalogue photograph, some of which have been filled with wax. There are losses to the Christ Child's toes and both arms, and to the greater part of the bird in front of Christ. There is a small area of restoration to the lock of hair to the proper right side of the Virgin's forehead - it appears to have been reattached. There is a later metal attachment at the back for hanging.
