The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting is in very good condition. The canvas has been lined. The paint layer is quite dirty and if it were to be cleaned, the palette would brighten considerably. Restorations are visible under ultraviolet light in a two inch square spot in the pink dress in the lower left and in a few spots in the upper left background. The signature in the sculpture is clearly added, there a few dots of restoration elsewhere and there is a possibility that other restorations exist beneath the opaque old varnish. Nonetheless, the condition generally is very presentable.
