Catalogue Note
We are grateful to Fred Meijer for identifying the present picture as a work by Laurentius de Neter.
Laurentius de Neter was a student of Isaac von dem Block and travelled in Holland from 1635 - 1638. The present work is rare in that the artist depicts an Old Testament scene in a landscape, rather than a genre scene in an interior, for which he is most well known.
