Description
the Madonna and Child gazing down at the young St. John to the left, cherubim in the upper corners, the predella centered by a cherub, within Renaissance gilt and painted wood frame with a shield below and carved with large scrolling acanthus leaves.

Pope-Hennessy confirmed the responsibility of Benedetto for the design of the present relief referring to stylistic similarities in the Virgin and Child on the Strozzi Monument in Santa Maria Novella, Florence, which was left unfinished in 1491.
