Catalogue Note

Harry Winston and Felix Baumgartner of Urwerk partnered to build the Opus V, a feat of horological skill and creativity.  The integration of the satellite hour display and retrograde minutes function proved a formidable task for Baumgartner and required the development of specially shaped springs (only 0.05 microns - a human hair is 70-100 microns thick) under the satellite system to allow for the whole mechanism to move counter clockwise without damage and allow the minute hand to "bounce" back to zero.  Unveiled at 2005 Baselworld, the hugely successful debut of this piece affirms the strong position of independent watch making. This watch was produced in a limited series of only 45 pieces in platinum, the current example is number 9.
