Cette œuvre, aux connotation🔥s sexuelles évidentes, est dédiée à Priape, Dieu de la virilité. Evoquant cette œuvre avec humour, Man ray se souvient : « Lorsqu'ils regardaient une photographie de cet objet, les gens me demandaient généralement la taille de l'original. A peu près celle de la votre était ma réponse. » (Schwarz, 1977, p. 159)
signed 'MR' and numbered '109/500' on the tube, white marble. Executed in 1972 by the galerie Alexandre Iolas, this work is numbered 123 of an edition of 500 exemples. The original object, conceived in 1920 has been destroyed.
