The paper has been laid down on paper mounted on a stretcher. There are two generations of mat stains and possibly glue stains at the edges; some paper loss, pin holes and a small tear at the edges. The paper appears to be light-struck; some scattered staining and foxing throughout the background; a repaired tear (approx. 4 inches) in the lower right quadrant; a circular spot of discoloration below figure's neck.
