Designed as a swan, the body set with a cultured baroque pearl, the feathers set with brilliant-cut diamonds, to a cabochon emerald eye, mounted in yellow gold,

Condition

Stamped 750 for gold. and numbered 18121. The freshwater pearl measuring approximately 18 x 26mm, skin with golden and pinkish overtones, some blemishes to be expected on baroque pearls. Good lustre. Total diamond weight approximately 2.30 carats. One wing articulated. SIgns of normal wear, scratches consistent with use, in good condition.

Catalogue Note

When choosing his pearls, Seaman Schepps was known to " always look for something not  round, so he could make pieces that were different". In the 1940s he created a similar brooch with perhaps one of the largest natural baroque pearl known.
