Catalogue Note
According to a letter from Boucheron, the necklace was made in 1959 incorporating the old-mine cut diamonds that were provided by the client. The drawings shown opposite indicate a choice of designs for the necklace.
An advertisement for Boucheron's centenary in the October 1958 issue of Vogue shows a fanciful illustration depicting several diamond necklaces, similar in design to the one offered here, against the background of a model's upswept hair. See Giles Néret, Boucheron, pp. 166-167.
