Description
The articulated necklace designed as a fancy-link chain supporting an elongated pendant set in the center with an oval cabochon ruby weighing approximately 7.50 carats, surmounted by a collet-set round diamond weighing approximately 2.70 carats, the whole further set with 591 baguette diamonds weighing approximately 29.50 carats, 362 round diamonds weighing approximately 15.25 carats and 2 square modified brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately . 60 carat; the matching earclips of buckle design set with round and baguette diamonds weighing approximately 3.10 carats, mounted in 18 karat white gold, necklace approximately 17 inches.
Condition
The ruby is a deep purplish red color and is semi-opaque. The large round diamond at the center is approximately I-J color and VS2-SI1 clarity. The remainder of the diamonds are approximately G-I color and VS clarity. Heavy and well-made and fitted with a safety closure and in good condition. The earrings are of similar style, but do not match the necklace exactly. The diamonds are approximately H-I color and SI clarity. They were probably converted from links of a previous piece. Evidence of gold solder on the reverse. In fair to good condition.
