Catalogue Note
Typically known as the Escalier bracelet, this jewel cleverly tricks the eye with contrasting colors in a moving staircase effect. As seen from one view, the bracelet appears to be all diamonds, but from another angle only sapphires can be seen. This style was in vogue during the mid 1930s; a similar bracelet can be seen in Melissa Gabardi's Art Deco Jewellery: 1920-1949, p. 199. While the present bracelet is unsigned, the style was popularized by Boucheron.
