Condition
This photograph, on paper with a slightly glossy finish, is in generally very good to excellent condition. As is appropriate for a print made around 1936, it is mounted to white board with a slick surface on both sides. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: three very small indentations not breaking the emulsion; several pinpoint deposits of original retouching; and very occasional, extremely faint, scratches on the surface. The latter are visible only under the closest examination.
The mount is soiled, and there is minor, scattered foxing on the front and back. The mount's corners are bumped, and the lower corners are creased. There is an abrasion on the front of the mount across the top, likely where an earlier overmat was removed. Along the top edge, there are three pinholes and two strips of cloth tape remains. On the reverse at the lower edge, there is a strip of cloth tape remains.

Catalogue Note
The photographs in this and the follow🎀ing three lots (181-183) come oꦡriginally from the collection of Jean Kellogg (1910-1995), Weston's friend and neighbor in Carmel. For more information regarding this provenance, please see Lot 30.
The exhibition label reads: 'Exhibited by The Photographic Arts Society, Inc. in The Photographic Arts Building,🔯 Balboa Park, San Diego, California.' The Photographic Arts Society held a one-man show of Weston's work in August 1939, and it is likely that this photograph was included.
