Provenance
The photographer to Jean Kellogg
Acquired from the above by her cousin💙s Abraham and Regula Melden in the 195ꦇ0s
By descent to the present owner
Condition
This luminous print, on paper with a surface sheen, is in generally excellent condition. It has the characteristics of a print made by Weston in the 1940s--a print with a somewhat glossy surface that has been mounted to thin, cream-colored board that is initialed and dated by the photographer, rather than fully signed.
When examined in raking light, tiny deposits of original retouching are faintly visible on the print's surface.
The front of the mount has a 1/2-inch swath of what appears to be adhesive remains across the top edge, as well as two cloth tape remains from an earlier hinging. On the reverse of the mount, in addition to light, minor soiling, there is a strip of cloth tape remains at the bottom edge.
