Description

  • George Bellows
  • Between Rounds, Small, Second Stone (M. 144)
  • 457 by 372 mm 18 by 14 5/8 in
Lithograph, 1923, signed in pencil and titled, from the edition of 42, on thin Japan paper, with wide margins, in good condition except the sheet edges trimmed irregularly, a short tear at the upper sheet edge with associated remains of adhesive, recto, minor time stain, framed

Condition

The print is in good condition as catalogued. There is a small piece of tape at the upper sheet edge recto (possibly an old hinge), with an associated 1/2 inch curved tear to its left. Additional associated creasing is visible in this area and along the upper margin. There are two shallow losses at the upper right sheet edge. The margins have become slighty dingy over time.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
