Condition
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This painting has been recently restored. It looks well and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas has been lined and the paint layer has been cleaned and varnished.
Retouches have been applied to diminish some cracking which has developed in the red of the fan in the dark colors of the woman's dress on the left and to the brown of the woman's dress on the far left. A slight glazing has been applied to the face on the far left. All of these retouches have been very accurately and economically applied and the remainder of the picture is almost completely devoid of any restorations. Overall the condition is impressive.
