"Space in the Lurras is worked on two fronts, in a double language: that of the perforation, the cut of the knife that opens and excavates them - and that of the imprint, with the oxide of copper that marks a black space."  Kosme de Barañano, 'Eduardo Chillida', in: Exhibition Catalogue, Madrid, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía; Bilbao, Museo Guggenheim, Chillida, 1948-1998, 1998-99, p. 40
