Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the black tends more towards charcoal grey and the rectangles more towards powder blue in the original. The illustration also fails to convey the texture of the hemp and the patches of lighter grey around the extreme edges. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Some light dust fibres adhere to the surface and there are artist's pinholes where the work is mounted to the wall.

Catalogue Note

Sonnier used Indian recipes to produce the paper out of Abaca (Ma🔥ni🐟la hemp) and dyed the paper with natural pigments.
