Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is warmer and more vibrant in the original, with the pink tending more towards a glossy candy pink and the blues on the butterflies towards metallic silver blue. The catalogue illustration also fails to convey some of the butterfly wings colours: the vermillion is in fact golden ochre. Condition: This work is in very good condition ans is protected within a derbyshire frame. There is a very light stretcher mark in places around the extreme outer edges. There are three hairline stable tension cracks emanating from the concave curvature of the heart apex and a further 2cm crack to the extreme left edge, approx. 35cm below the extreme left butterfly. There is very light wear in places to some of the outer edges, most noticeably towards the upper section of the right edge and at the extreme lower tip of the heart shape where there are several tiny cracks and specks of paint loss. All of the above are unobtrusive and only visible upon close inspection. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
