Catalogue Note

A very simil🌠ar egg-shaped gumpot by Perchin, carved from nephrite, is in the British Royal Collection, no. RCIN 40148. The information held in the online catalogue states that it was probably acquired by Queen Alexandra. In the absence of an inventory number it is impossible to confirm if this was 🍸also a present from Empress Maria Fedorovna to her sister Queen Alexandra, but it is possible that they were given as Easter presents the same year. Both eggs have mounts of ribbed star design that recall the Stars of Russian Imperial Orders.
