Condition

The support pin joining the handle to the kovsh is missing and consequently the handle is loose. There is a corresponding chip in the crystal at the join between the handle and the main body of the kovsh.

Catalogue Note

It is interesting to note that Fabergé chose to use a higher quality of gold for this piece, 72 rather than the usual 56 zolotnik standard. This, combined with the fact that the control mark is almost hidden under the enamel, emphasises the object's discreet luxury.
