Catalogue Note

The striking combination of the soft green colour of bowenite with an enamel of a warm pink hue was favoured by Fabergé. Its most spectacular manifestation may be seen in the 'Colonnade 'egg, presented by Emperor Nicholas II to his consort Empress Alexandra Fedorovna at Easter 1910. It was also used for a wide range of accessories, such as this page turner and a parasol handle, made by Michael Perchin and subsequently given by Queen Mary to the French in Great Britain Fund, sold Sotheby's 🍸Geneva, 18 November 1993, lot 685.
