Description

formed of six ribbon-bow cartouches spaced with five scroll cartouches and four quatrefoil links, set with small rubies and diamonds in raised square collets, the members decorated with black enamel with white beads at intervals, all linked by later double chains with black and white enamel beads.

Provenance

The Jack and Belle Linsky Collection, sold Sotheby's New York, May 21, 1985, lot 133

Condition

The components of this necklace were originally assembled differently and were probably sewn onto a garment, rather than linked. The chains are 19th century. Some losses to enamel throughout.
