The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting on copper requires restoration and has not been attended to for some time. The copper is flat and reinforced. The paint layer is stable, is extremely dirty and would brighten considerably if it were to be cleaned. It seems unlikely that any restorations of note have been added although some losses may be revealed if the picture were to be cleaned. Overall the picture is presentable and will improve with restoration.
