The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. One of these paintings has been lined using wax as an adhesive, the other has been mounted onto board. Both pictures are stable and more or less clean. The varnish is soft and a fuller varnish will improve the images. The paint layers of both paintings are a little abraded and some sharpening of the details through fine retouching will improve this pair. At present, hardly any restorations have been applied and only in the upside down urn in the lower right are there any retouches of note.
