The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This pair of paintings are painted on single pieces of oak panels are both un-reinforced on the reverse. The paint layers are stable and in very healthy state. In both pictures there are a few tiny cracks which have been retouched in the darkest colors, but the skies and the bulk of the remainder of the pictures are beautifully preserved. The pictures should be hung as is.
