The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting is in lovely state. The panel is made from a single piece of un-reinforced oak. There is one diagonal scratch situated in the clouds in the upper center which has been retouched. On the very bottom edge, a little frame abrasion has been addressed, yet other than this no restorations of note have been added and overall the condition is excellent.

The present landscape by Saftleven is one of his earliest dated paintings and the only knꦺown work from the year 1633.
