  • DIAMETER 34 MM

Condition

The movement is running, however we recommend service soon. It is numbered N32624. The dial has been reprinted, however it has aged and discolored since it was done. There are some marks near 1, 4 and 11 oclock where the dial has aged around the star indexes. The case shows general wear with surface scuffs and evidence of polishing throughout. The gold stamp to the rear of the lower right lug is sharp. The inside of the case back is stamped 6062. The numbers between the lugs are rubbed and illegible at this point.

Catalogue Note

Ref. 6062 is one of ⛄only two models that Rolex produced with moon-phases, the other model being Ref. 8171. The two models differ in their case construction, with the present model having a screw-down case back, rather than the snap back of Ref. 8171. Furthermore, Ref. 6ꦦ062 has a more pronounced tonneau rather than circular form.

Ref. 6062 is also well-known for the fact that some examples within the ♎reference, such as the present, bear gilt star indexes, complementing those on the moon-phase plate. The attractive an💮d unusual 'Star Dial' is highly sought after by collectors, and research suggests that these were produced in limited numbers.

It is interesting to note that t🎃he 'Super Oyster' crown on the present example was first introduced on Ref. 6062. Unlike earlier models with screw-down crowns, this design combined the ease of a pull-out crown with the water resistance associated with screw-down crowns.
