The movement is running and chronograph appears to function properly, however we recommend service soon. The dial is stepped and is in overall nice condition. The subsidiary registers have aged slightly and yellowed. The luminescent dots have also discolored to a dark brown. The case shows general wear and surface scuffs throughout. Overall this is a nice watch in good condition. The numbers between the lugs are 6239 and 1958606 and the number inside the back is 6239.

Catalogue Note

Ref. 6239 wa🧸s the first Daytona model to be fitted with the Paul Newman dial. Many of the dials on early models were the three-coꦿlor examples, seen on the present lot, with black and white patterned dials and red outer tracking. Today, these dials are seen as more exotic than standard Paul Newman dials and command a higher premium.

For a note on the Pa♔ul Newman model, see the following lot.
