Catalogue Note

Kelvin Hughes is one of the world's finest🐭 makers of marine chronometers and ship navigational instruments with a history going back more than 250 years. In the 1970s, the firm teamed up with Patek Philippe to produce this marine chronometer model.

It is interesting to note that unlike earlier marine chronometer designs, the present lot is not especially easy to open and set. ༺Considering the accuracy of the quartz movement with a fully charged battery, one would not need to wind and set the movemꦜent on a daily or weekly basis, as was the tradition. The movement could be fitted with a new battery and set at the home port and then left to work without further minding.

A piece such as the present one highlights the technical and aesthetic levels to which Patek Philippe stretched&nbs💮p;during this era.
