Accompanied by Patek Philippe fitted presentation case with electric plug, numbered Instructions pour L'emploi du Chronotome 'CC', Patek Philippe Electronic Diꦿvision technical booklet and repair correspondence between the original purchaser and the Henri Stern Watch Agency.
In 1952, Patek P♚hilippe developed the first miniature electronic timepiece using a quartz crystal and transistors, making it the first clock without moving parts or contacts to the movement.
This new technology allowed for an extremely efficient and dependable movement that would 𒉰only gain or lose a small fraction of a second every day. This was the result of Patek Philippe's new Electronic Division that focused especially on marine chronometers and industrial master clock systems.
The pre🌌sent model, the Chronotome, was developed in 1958 and stood apart from other clocks as it had the ability to store and use energy with the inclusion of five rechargeable batteries. Such a device would be helpful when the clock was used away from an immediate source of power. In addition, this model is housed in a patented cast-iron insulated box that would protect the quartz crystal and transistors from varying temperatures.
This model, the Chronotome CC, was accurate to plus or minus 0.02 seconds a day. According to the accompanying technical booklet, '... Patek Philippe [has] set a production goal in🀅 chronometers and master clocks that will satisfy, technically and e൲conomically, the most demanding clients.'
