Condition

The movement is running, however it might need service soon as it has probably not been serviced ever before. We have not removed the case back to check the movement directly as we did not want to impose wear on the case. The dial is clean with no signs of wear throuhgout. The case shows amost no wear whatsoever. The backs of the top lugs show some slight scuffs. The factor sticker to the outside of the back is blanck and has faded, but totally complete. Overall this is a beautiful watch in near new-old stock condition.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by Heuer fitted box, worldwide service booklet and outer p🌞ackagingꦑ.

First released in 1962, the Heuer Autavia got its name from🌸 the firm's two main areas of concentration: automobiles and aviation. The model combines the racing spirit and aesthetic of the firm with technical merits of the Swiss watchmaking industry of the period.

Released in 1969 and featuring the cal. 11 movement (and subsequently the cal. 12), this model was the first automatic chronograph watch available in the market. With in💦novations such as this, the firm would become closely associated with auto racing.

The 'MH' in the reference refers to the bezel which is calibrated for minutes and hour💛s.

The present example is𒀰 especially rare in that it has probably never been worn or used. Such 'new-old stock' examples are particularly hard to find in today's market.

An almost-identical example is illustrated in Halsinger, A. M., Heuer Chronographs: Fascination of Timekeepers and Motor Sports, 1960s-1970s, pp. 67-67.
